Caring about Books

Did you know that books are so priceless that for many years only kings, nobles and priest had and read books? Books were written by hand, usually on ship skin, wet clay or leaves. During hundred of years, the methods of making books improved a little. Then we should thank to Gutenberg who found a practical way to print books with type. But until now, books are still expensive for some people.

Have you any idea how much work goes into making a book? The author may spend several years to write a book. Then the publisher prints the book. The paper may be made of wood from tropical countries. It takes many people to make the paper, so the work of more than a hundred people goes into each book.

If you handle the book carefully, many people can read it. If you damage it, the book can never really be fixed. The work of all those people is lost. Books can be very good frieds. So let’s try always to treat the as friends!
